What has been completely missed in the abortion discussion is that it is actually a religious issue, which should be an illegal basis for restricting the practice.
Christians see a fertilized egg as a human. But 50% of the world’s population (and 33% of Americans) believe in reincarnation. Reincarnation thinkers generally believe that the 5th month of pregnancy is the moment that the soul enters the body. Why should they be restricted by what they might well consider their unenlightened Christian associates?
Maybe all the virulent condemnation, horror and righteous activism of the so-called pro-life crowd is an enormous mistake. Of course, they all have to wait to die to find out that they were completely wrong about it.
And then come back on earth to spend a lifetime apologizing. Or better yet, get born into a poverty-stricken home to a struggling single mother whose boyfriend dumped her for yet another target.
